Rock Camp crowdfunding campaign launches through Australian Cultural Fund!

Girls Rock! Adelaide is seeking your support for our third Rock Camp, an experience all about building creativity, confidence, and community.

Previous participants have described the camp as: “So much more welcoming and amazing than I could imagine”, “The best thing I have ever experienced”, and “Awesome in every single way!”.

The music industry is dominated by cisgender men, from record companies and music industry boards to gig line-ups and festival bills.

This means that the industry can be an intimidating place for people of other, less represented gender identities and can make them feel like they don’t belong. 

This is where Girls Rock! Adelaide, and our program ‘Rock Camp’ comes in. 

Rock Camp is all about providing a safe space for young people to meet others like them, be inspired by role models and industry professionals, push themselves creatively, and have fun!

Rock Camp is extra special because the volunteers, workshop facilitators, presenters and lunchtime bands represent marginalised gender identities too.

Together we create an understanding and empowering space to take creative risks and form lasting friendships.

Supporting Rock Camp means supporting generations of gender-marginalised musicians and communities and growing, diversifying, and strengthening our music scene.

So far Girls Rock! Adelaide has held two rock camps, and we are now preparing for our third in July 2022.

But as a volunteer-run organisation, we’re always on a tight budget. Camp is expensive and COVID has limited our ability to fundraise via gigs and BBQs.

By donating to our project ‘Rock Camp by Girls Rock Adelaide’ through the Australian Cultural Fund, you will help us do what we do best: support girls, trans and gender non-conforming youth to engage with music in a welcoming and encouraging space, free of judgement. 

Proceeds will go toward: venue hire; catering; expertise; equipment; accommodation and travel costs for rural participants; and scholarships for campers who couldn’t otherwise afford to attend.  

A donation of $500 will cover one full fee-paying place for a camper at our week-long program.
