Girls Rock! Adelaide thanks Music SA for their in-kind venue and staffing support for these workshops.

Do you love making funny sounds? Have you always wondered what a synthesiser is? Are you interested in making electronic music? Do you want to learn how to get sounds into a computer and make it into a song?

Girls Rock! Adelaide is excited to announce ‘Intro to Synth’ - a four-hour workshop that will give attendees a broad overview of synthesised music, some of the instruments that are used to make it, and how to get sounds from your synth or the world around you into a format that you can manipulate on a computer.

Leading the sessions are four dynamic South Australian artists that use these tools in their own music practice:
- Georgia Oatley (solo artist, Girls Rock! Adelaide mentor 2021)
- Harriet Fraser-Barbour (multi-instrumentalist, Girls Rock! Adelaide mentor 2021)
- Isobel Clemow-Meyer (sound artist, Girls Rock! Adelaide mentor 2019 & 2021)
- Raeaw (noise musician, synth DIYer)

There are two workshops - one open to our usual target group of girls, trans children of all gender identities and gender diverse children aged 10-17, but we are also delighted to announce that this time we are holding an additional workshop for women, trans people of all gender identities and gender diverse people aged 18 and over!

This workshop is aimed at complete beginners. No need to worry if you’ve never touched a synth before - we will provide the instruments and equipment for you to participate in the workshop!

The session will include presentations, small group work, and plenty of time for making noise and recording sounds. Your tutors will guide you through each stage, promoting the Girls Rock! values of inclusivity, empowerment, creativity, positivity and encouragement. Afternoon tea is also provided.

There are only 12 places available for each workshop so register now!
